Newcastle Pondering Third Scottish friendly

Having confirmed a friendly against Motherwell yesterday, Newastle are now mulling over an away fixture against St. Mirren. Sources in Scotland stated that the Scottish League Cup winners a very keen on the fixture to be played at their 8000 seater stadium, St. Mirren Park. United are yet to confirm the fixture, with away fixtures at Blackpool, Rangers and Motherwell already confirmed as the St James’ Park pitch is re-seeded. After a trip to South Africa collapsed, Newcastle will be keen to add new fixtures as they prepare for a crucial season in the Barclays Premier League. A trip to the Algarve, Portugal has been penciled in for a second season. Last summer, the Magpies faced Braga and Olympiacos at the Algarve stadium, holding the Greeks to a draw and winning against Braga to win the Trofeu Internacional de Futebol do Guadiana. But unlike last season, which also saw trips to Germany and Austria, it seems Newcastle’s only visit to the continent will be to the Algarve.
